Well, just popped in to let my friends know that I'm still alive

Been hibernating of late because I HATE WINTER. Used to love it when I could do sports like snow ski, but now the wheelchair is my main mode of transport I like to hide from the cold weather. When I win Tattslotto I'm going to live up North for the winter months LOLOLOL .

Am dying to read the last Harry Potter book which came out yesterday, but as I'm broke at the moment it'll have to wait til payday. Every time I see it mentioned on the TV or whatever, I turn the sound down, cos I don't want it ruined for me before I've read the book.

I'm really, really bored cos I've been stuck at home for 2 weeks due to a spinal problem, hopefully it'll improve soon and i can GET OUT!!!!!!!

A lovely Autumn

It's truely amazing!!!! This has been a wonderful autumn and I've had time to enjoy it, it certainly makes a difference when you don't have to travel nearly 6 hours going back and forth to work every day.

We've been blessed with beautiful weather, and yes even some rain. The drought isn't over because the rain hasn't fallen in the catchment areas, but it's nice to see some green instead of dusty ground.

I can't say I've been very productive over the last month, just enjoying doing nothing, but at least I've had time for music and the computer. Now have time to learn all of the music thats been stacking up for so long.

My telescope has died, it didn't have a very good trip in the removalist truck when I moved here. It's not worth repairing so i'll have to bite the bullet and get a new one. Saw a beauty on eBay, but I didn't have that kind of money ($2,000). I'd like to get a new one before Winter sets in, because on a clear night the stars are at their best downunder. Anyway, we'll see what happens, you never know I might win Lotto - yeah right!!!

Queen v Queen + Paul Rodgers

Someone made the comment to me today (this has happened many times) that they don't like Queen + Paul Rodgers because the original Queen was better with Freddie and John.

That sort of comment makes my blood boil!!!

Why do people persist in comparing Queen with Queen + Paul Rodgers? They aren't trying to be "Queen", the original and only "Queen" with Freddie and John!!

Q+PR are a group in their own right and deserve to be recognised as such and I really love listening to them and watching them play, especially the old Queen songs. My admiration for Brian and Roger runs very deep and whether they're preforming in a group or solo, I'd crawl over glass to see them.

Paul ISN'T trying to replace Freddie, why would he!!! He is a great singer and songwriter himself and doesn't need to try to be anybody else.

Let them be themselves and hopefully when they bring out their new album, this comparision rubbish might be put to rest.

Changes and Risks

You know I consider myself a fairly conservative person in some regards, work hard, save for a future and all that really mundane stuff.

But here I am doing something really unlike me, I'm quitting my job and haven't got a clue what my future holds. Whenever I've left a job, I've always had another one lined up, never even had much trouble finding work, always seemed to fall right into another job easily.

I'm a libran and I like to be organised and know exactly where I'm going, but for the last few years I've been just making big changes and taking risks with my life.

I'd always been a city person and then just suddenly sold up and moved to the country, I'd had enough of city life and wanted to make a tree change.

I've hated my job for the last couple of years and every day it's been harder to go in there, I've had enough of that too!! Life's too damn short to be doing something you hate and causes you stress all the time. I'm at the age when getting another job is just not going to happen, lack of skills other stuff too, and you know what??? I don't give a damn!!!! I'll just live carefully and except for the money I've put aside for the Q+PR tour, I'll curb my spending ways.

I really don't know why I've been moving away from my careful way of life. and I don't really care why either. All I know is that I want to take some time to smell the roses, enjoy Queen, and heaps of other things I want to do with my life. I'm going to travel some more and do the stuff I want to do. I trade on eBay and can make a few dollars on that so I won't starve.

Here's to life...................

Who are we?

I've been involved with many wildlife and animal welfare groups for most of my life.

I'm constantly disappointed in what we humans do to anilmals and the environment in general, and the total disregard we seem to have for our lonely little blue planet.

Who are we to do the things that we do? How can people be so cruel and insensive to creatures that deserve our love and protection. Here in Australia we've had people who commit unspeakable crimes against animals, everthing from torturing innocent little kittens to that barbarous act just recently against Stingrays.

I've always had a companion animal and if anyone ever harmed them in any way, I don't know what I'd do, it may not be pretty!!

I don't know how anyone can even slap an animal. let alone torture them.

We humans have the brain capacity to be better than we are and to be kind and loving. Those scum morons who harm animals should themselves be subjected to pain and suffering. Whenever I hear of acts against animals I wish on the perpertrators the most horrible things, and I have so much anger towards them I just feel so helpless.

Fines and jail terms for these subhumans need to be increased so that these bastards might learn a lesson or two.

Today I heard of yet another incident of cruelty to animals. This is beyond comprehension to me, how can anyone hurt and/or kill an innocent little animal.

People who do this are sub human scum. I'd like to inflict some pain on them, at least they can fight back.

I love my own little dog more than I can express and when I visit my friends and their cats I just love it.

I truely hate and despise these low lifes who hurt animals, I hope they end up in a really bad accident or get really really sick, it would serve them right and I wouldn't care less.

Holiday

Hooray, as of today I'm on holiday for a week. That may not seem long, but for me it's heaven.

Been "Under Pressure" of late and am just going to enjoy a few days of doing stuff just for myself. Pick up the guitar, dust off the piano and play on the computer. There will be some boring stuff like housework and cooking, but they are only minor things.

Today I saw the Brian May "Red Special Acoustic Guitar". How nice that would be, add that to my list of stuff I'm saving for. You need reasons like buying tickets to the Queen+Paul Rodgers tour of Oz (when they're announced), and going to all their concerts, to justify doing my job.

Well tomorrow I'm starting my holiday with a long sleep in, turn off that 4.40am alarm.

Although I can never compete the massive picture collection that Icarus Falls has, I've been working hard to get as many pics on my site as possible.

There are still a lot to go up there and I seem to gather more every week, only a trickle now though.

I really love gathering these pics of my favourite musicians and I try to get them into the best condition I can for you to enjoy.

My Interests

As you have seen from my first entry, I’m a complete Queen fan.

However, I do have other interests believe it or not!

I started learning the guitar when I was about 12 or 13, was not very good and still aren’t, but I do enjoy playing. A long time ago a friend and I did some duets which was fun, it’s amazing how two bad singers could sound good – but there you have it.

I’d always wanted to play the piano, but didn’t start to learn till I was an adult, again not very good but I love it. My hands are very small so it is hard work to play.

I’m a bit like John Deacon these days and don’t like to perform in front of people. I like to play guitar along with DVDs or CDs, but that’s about it really.

Music has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to all kinds of music and I enjoy just about everything, except for Opera, never got a handle on that.

My interest in astronomy goes way back to the first landing on the moon. To my young mind that was just the most amazing and exciting thing that could possibly happen. I remember being glued to the TV watching that scratchy footage being beamed to us, again another amazing thing. I followed all of the Apollo missions with a passion and that started my love affair with the stars.

I have my own telescope, and now that I live in the country I get much better views than I used to get closer to Melbourne. Winter is the best time (when the sky is clear of course) and I’ve been known to dress in my ski gear just to keep warm. I’m going to get a more powerful telescope eventually (telescope money is now going to be diverted to Queen tickets) because mine isn’t terribly strong.

I’m a travelaholic, and my feet are always itchy to go somewhere. I work to travel lol. I’ve been to Europe, Britain, USA, some South Pacific islands and of course lots and lots of places throughout Australia. My next holiday will be following Queen on the “downunder” tour.

There are lots of other interests in my life that I won’t bore you with, these are the main ones though.

Oh, by the way, I’m a chocaholic too!

Queen and Me

Hi I'm QueenOz

I'm very lucky in that I've been around long enough to see Queen from the early days. Way back

then, of course I still loved the Beatles (didn't everyone?) and various sugary pop groups, but when I played music myself it was folk/country.

But Countdown changed all of that when Ian "Molly" Meldrum started to play the Queen videos. It was just so amazing, here was this group who were way out there, musically, theatrically, everything! From that moment my outlook on music changed and I became a closet lover of the wonderful Queen. None of my friends were into that kind of music so I kept my love of Queen to myself. I didn't get to see them when the came to Australia and it's something I'll regret forever. Now that I’m older I can indulge in my love of Queen and am thoroughly enjoying it.

When Freddie died it was devastating. I knew he was ill, it was obvious from the pictures and videos of him, and like most people I suspected it was AIDS. What a terrible way for him to die, AIDS is so cruel. At the time some people said horrible things about him because of his illness, but others praised what he'd given the world of music.

When Queen + Paul Rodgers got together I had mixed feelings about it. And when I was going to watch Return of the Champions for the first time I really didn't know what to expect. What was it going to be like without Freddie? Would Brian and Roger still have "it"? Well all of my doubts flew out the window after the first song of the set.

Paul is great out the front, putting his own touch to Queen music and not trying to replace Freddie. As for Brian and Roger - WOW!!!! All of the energy and excitement was there and they were brilliant for 2 ageing Queens (as Freddie would have said). Also they looked like they were having such a wonderful time, really enjoying themselves.

Brian's rendition of Love of My Life was truly beautiful and his superb playing throughout the show was beyond words. “Last Horizon” just completely blew me away – I just don’t have the words to describe what I felt, truly beautiful.

When Roger sang "Say It's Not True" it showed that he hasn't changed one single bit and his "Let It Be Drums" was absolutely fantastic. The blond god of percussion reigns supreme!!!!

I want them to come out to Australia so badly, I’ll go to every show.
